Mersey Valley Way National River Walk
Funded by the UK Government, England's first national river walk runs for 21km along the River Mersey in Greater Manchester.
The walking route follows the north bank of the Mersey from Stockport town centre, through south Manchester and Trafford to Ashton-on-Mersey. The route follows bridleways and public footpaths on flat ground along the river valley.
The bridleway sections are also accessible for cyclists and horse riders.
