Lindow Common

Birch control work party at Lindow Common

We will be working in partnership with the Bollin Valley Partnership Rangers at Lindow Common to remove self-seeded birch from the SSSI designated heathland habitat. Work will include use of hand tools such as loppers and saws. Equipment and training will be provided.

This work party will run from 10am-3pm and we will be meeting at Lindow Common Car Park.

Bring lunch and your own work gloves if you have them, and please wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear (steel toe caps if you have them). Long trousers, long sleeves, and warm layers are recommended!

The session is outdoors so make sure you have waterproofs and sun protection as needed. Please also make sure you bring enough water and food to keep you going throughout the day.

Twinnies Bridge

We will be working in partnership with the Bollin Valley Partnership Rangers to complete footpath works on the newly re-opened woodland in the Carrs. Work will include use of hand tools. Equipment and training will be provided.

This work party will run from 10am-3pm and we will be meeting at the Twinneys Bridge car park on Styal Road.

Join us in installing leaky dams (human beavers) as a natural flood management scheme around Stockport to help control water flow.

Meet us at 10.00 am at Bruntwood Lane, Cheadle SK8 1HX. Parked near to the BMX track.

We will be digging into the river banks, moving logs, and installing posts to create leaky dams. This is a physical activity that needs you to be physically fit enough to be able to lift and carry 20kg safely.

This is a weather-dependent activity (if it's snowing or icey). Work boots/ wellies are required, as are water bottles, suitable clothing, and lunch; other PPE items will be provided.

There are facilities on-site and a café which you are more than welcome to use.

We are supporting the Salford Quays litter pick group with their next #CleanUpTheQuays litter pick around Salford Quays on Sunday 17 March.  

Please dress for the weather conditions and wear strong footwear.  Gloves and litter pickers provided. 

Meet at 10am outside the Ordsall Lane Co-Op Store  - postcode is M5 4UB.   

Finish around 12.30 to 1pm.

All welcome for some pre-Easter eggs outdoor exercise and litter collecting !
